Inmarsat Aviation is proud to sponsor the inaugural Cranfield University Digital Aviation Conference on 13-15 April, which takes the theme ‘Towards a sustainable future’.

The virtual conference celebrates the opening of Cranfield University’s new Digital Aviation Research and Technology Centre (DARTeC), of which Inmarsat Aviation is a supporting member.

Over the two days, the conference will bring together the digital aviation community to address industry challenges and includes keynotes, panel debates, interviews, Q&A sessions and a virtual hackathon challenge to design and prototype the development of an app.

Panel session

On 15 April, Inmarsat Aviation’s Senior Director of UAVs & UTM, Anthony Spouncer, will join the panel discussion ‘Sustainable Airspace Round 8: Airborne Communication Networks and Security Aspects’ at 14:45-16:00 GMT.

During the panel session, he will highlight our innovations within the Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) sector, including our award-winning Pop-Up UTM platform in collaboration with Altitude Angel, which delivers Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) flight tracking for UAVs worldwide.

The panel will also take a wider look at the challenges and opportunities in advanced airborne communications technology and security, and develop direction for future research in advance communications including connectivity for air mobility, 5G and beyond.

Throughout the conference, attendees will be able to learn more details on how Inmarsat is uniquely positioned to be a critical catalyst for commercial UAV growth at our virtual booth.
